A clinical trial in three French public hospitals found that, when the treatment was started early in the morning, treatment failure rates were twice as high as for those patients who were started early on. The study, presented at the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in Washington, DC, showed that for patients who took valacyclovir, they had twice as many treatment failures as patients who took a placebo. When valacyclovir was used for a period of five days at the start of the trial, there were, on average, fewer treatment failures than in the placebo group.
Patients who took valacyclovir had two times as many treatment failures than patients who took a placebo.
For those patients who were taking valacyclovir, the rate of treatment failure was twice as high as for patients who were not taking valacyclovir.
